Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2026–27 school year at New Horizon High School (NHHS), where Stallion PRIDE is our alternative! We offer flexible scheduling and smaller class sizes to help students meet their graduation requirements in a safe and secure environment.

Students can attend an A.M. Session for Periods 1–4 or a P.M. Session for Periods 4–7. All students have an advisory teacher during 4th period to support them with online credit recovery classes, coding, financial literacy, leadership, social-emotional learning, and academic goals. Every Thursday is an early release day, providing our teachers with valuable collaboration and professional development time.

We are a phone-free school. Students must keep their phones in a Yondr Pouch throughout the school day to limit distractions and maximize their potential. The expectation is for students to earn five credits per class, per quarter. Students are enrolled in six classes total, including four in-person classes and two online classes.

We will send Periodic Academic Review (PAR) letters every three weeks to inform families if their student is on track in at least four of their six classes. Please check grades in Aeries regularly and contact the office or your child's teachers with any questions.

Students at NHHS can participate in Barbering Career Technical Education (CTE) classes, take music, art, and gardening enrichment classes, and visit the Wellness Center during lunch.

Friday Night Live (FNL) and Cup-of-Happy help prepare students for future success by promoting healthy lifestyles and strengthening decision-making skills. Additionally, Coombs offers a traveling sports program where students can earn up to 2.5 credits of P.E. or elective credit in each of the four sports offered throughout the year. Our students participate in home and away games with other alternative schools in the Serrano League. These programs help engage students in school, promote future-ready leadership skills, and foster teamwork.

We look forward to welcoming our students back to campus for a successful new school year.

Go Stallions!

Sincerely,

Melissa Lee D.C.
