Principal's Message

Dear Students, Families, and Staff,
Welcome to the 2025-26 school year at New Horizon High School (NHHS), where Stallion PRIDE is our alternative! We offer flexible scheduling and smaller class sizes to help students meet their graduation requirements in a safe and secure environment. Students can attend an A.M. Session for Periods 1-4 or a P.M. Session for Periods 4-7. All students have an advisory teacher 4th period to support them with online credit recovery classes, coding, financial literacy, leadership, social-emotional, and academic goals. Every Thursday is an early release day, providing our teachers with valuable collaboration and professional development time.
We are a phone-free school. Students must keep their phones in a Yondr Pouch throughout the school day to limit distractions and maximize potential. The expectation is for students to receive 5 credits per class, per quarter. Students are enrolled in six classes total, four in-person and two online classes. We will send Periodic Academic Review or “PAR” letters every three weeks, informing you if your student is on track in at least four of their six classes. Please check their grades in Aeries regularly and contact the office or your child’s teachers with any questions.
Students at NHHS can participate in CTE classes, Cosmetology, team-building and leadership workshops with the ANEW Project, take music/art classes, or join our Esports Club. Friday Night Live (FNL) & Cup-of-Happy help prepare our students for future success while developing a healthy lifestyle and improving decision-making skills. Additionally, Coombs offers a traveling sports program where students can receive up to 2.5 credits of P.E. or elective credit in each of the four sports offered throughout the year. Our students participate in home and away games with other alternative schools in the Serrano League. These programs help engage our students in school, promote leadership skills, and foster the development of teamwork.
We look forward to welcoming our students back to campus for a successful new school year. Go Stallions!
Sincerely,
Melissa Lee D.C.
